As summer comes to a close and all of the fall things start to come out, this time of year is a favorite for many. Cooler temps, fall scented candles, cozy clothes, and the holiday season quickly approaching. As we get excited about this time of year, it’s also important we remember that we have to focus on ourselves and make time for winding down this fall.

Summertime is a busy time of year where many of us are constantly on the go: ball games, outdoor events, pool parties, vacations, beach trips, weekend getaways, and the list goes on and on. Take time this fall, slow down from your busy pace, and take the wonderful fall season in.

Here are 5 helpful tips to winding down this fall and making the most out of the upcoming season:

Buy your favorite fall scents. Nothing says relaxation like a good smelling candle and your favorite book to help you. While you’re winding down this fall. Candles don’t have to be expensive. You can literally buy them anywhere! Walmart, Target, Home Goods, Bath & Body Works… you name it, they have candles. The best part about candles? You can purchase what makes you happy and what puts you in the best fall/relaxation mood.

Spruce up your apartment or home with subtle fall décor. You don’t have to go crazy… we aren’t recommending that you spend hundreds of dollars to decorate for the season, but give yourself a small budget and bargain shop at your favorite stores. Want to know our favorite? The Target dollar bins. They have the cutest signs, pumpkins, and more than you can imagine for just a couple dollars. Tip: give yourself a budget before walking into the store and make sure you stay within your limits. There’s nothing better than a cozy home!

Buy your favorite soaps! Scents seem to be a big deal around the fall season, so why not buy your seasonal favorites? Tip: watch Bath & Body Works and Target. They typically run great sales throughout the season, and you can save quite a bit of money.

Tight budget tries these last two:

Grab a friend and take a walk! We keep giving you advice on how to make your home feel like fall but fall-time also calls for nature walks down trails and breathing in the fresh cool air. The best thing about nature walks are there are no rules! Go by yourself, take a friend, take your pet… do what makes you happy! Side note: who doesn’t feel better after a little exercise and fresh air?

Be thankful. As we mentioned above, fall means the holiday season of Thanksgiving and Christmas is quickly approaching. This is a great time to reflect on the things you’re most thankful for. And if we might add… it’s easy to be thankful when you’re surrounded by all of the fall things: smells, cooler air, and a cozy home to come home to.

It’s up to you whether you give any of the above a shot… but we would highly recommend it! Especially if fall is a seasonal favorite.

Enjoy!
